Legends of Xian online is a free browser mmorpg, which was originally released under the name of Ming Dynasty, which turns out to be a failure due to game’s culture limitation, improper management and limited investment in several ways like advertising, human resources and even the truth is they are short of industry experience.

Initially, Ming Dynasty was advertised only on the browser game site called bbg site, but according to inside sources, there are only 5 – 10 registrations per day, which gives the creators a heavy blow at the very beginning. The Guangzhou-based developers 4399.com swiftly realized Ming Dynasty would not go further, so they decided to stop marketing Ming Dynasty, the once most popular game in China.

Perhaps, the management of Ming Dynasty game had a talk with Evony’s working business and marketing staff, making a final conclusion, that is, licensing Ming Dynasty to game publishers. That is why we saw the browser mmo game Legends of Xian online, the souped up version of the original Ming Dynasty. To be more exact, Ming Dynasty is the equivalent of Legends of Xian online except the game title.

Before I introduce this game, I would like to tell you more about Chinese browser games and the game’s market. In China, most of individuals and companies purchased the browser game’s private server’ programs and re-code, reshape them into a totally new game. That move will more often than not give you an refreshing impression by rolling out an advanced front-page with outsourcing artworks.  However, Chinese government introduced some regulations to stop the individuals spamming the gaming world in China.

Then? Where to go? Go outside? Yes, a great number of startup companies seek to publish their games on English-speaking countries. That is why Evony, Empire Craft, Three Kingdoms Online, WW2 Assembly, Caesary, Ming Dynasty and many more out there.

Well, let’s go back to our topic. Legends of Xian online is very popular game in China thanks for its well-structured storyline-based quest, realistic game feel, and history-embracing materials.

Chances are Legends of Xian could be run smoothly by Lekool, a newly emerging browser game and social game publisher in North America, but slightly famous in China.  Because Lekool’s team renamed the game’s name from Ming Dynasty to Legends of Xian. The name basically have nothing novel, and I am assuming the game is given by Chinese,  not by players.

The browser RPG Legends of Xian was just integrated into Lekool. How does the game work out? Still in question.
