Dynasty Saga, a new war-themed strategy MMO, after two years of natty crafting by Shanghai Xinyun Network Technology, finally unveils itself online. A grounder-breaker in concept and design, the game no longer confines players to the grueling routine of “building guilds and collecting items”. Instead, it flings war-thirsty gamer right into ancient massive warfare that involves mind-boggling blood-shed and everything else.
Graphics:
A departure from the bright-colored uplifting war titles we get hands on before, Dynasty Saga chooses a rather suppressive dark hue and well-crafted Flash animation to depict a mind-stirring prelude to the mass warfare, with thunders all roaring and cracking clouds of darkness hanged over the skyline.
Overview:
Now let’s have a bird’s view of the game play and take some close-ups where necessary. The game design is quite gamer-friendly, with detailed guides and mission tutorials for newbies to get a quick hang of how things work out here.
Control: Dynasty Saga shares the traditional Point and Click Game control with other browser-based games
Here comes a quick look at the whole picture:
Well, the tutorial thing inDynasty Sagais kind of like a whirlwind. It hits on, throws gamers right into battling, and then withdraws quickly. To stun gamers with fights head-on, though a bit out of the normal line, is quite understandable since a unique combat mechanics is whatDynasty Saga mostly about.
Once the fighting stuff is done, then gamers would get into the main city, or what we called the ‘inner-city’.
Gamers start with a meager of buildings limited to guilds, banks, drill grounds and civilian households only. Hang on there, however and wait to be surprised as you make your way forward. Apart from the four basics, more upgraded buildings of various kinds will spring up as players get leveled to gradually to set up stuffs matched with the regions.
With a real Chinese ancient map at hands, newcomer will start things from the right-top ‘Plain’, which is further divided into many sub areas, each for 16 players at most. Though players can not move beyond their own marked zones in the plain, but they may well step out of this beginner’s region for a wider territory after getting leveled or having all region-specific missions nailed. It is all very like what the ancient conqueror did, climbing up in military rank, boosting up economy, encroaching lands and cities to finally make yourself the ultimate ruler of the entire nation!City building
Once making it to the main city, players can rank up, collecting currencies, and upgrade the city hub for more buildings, advanced technologies and tougher generals matching the levels of the specific region they are in.
Equipment purchasing, resource supplying and warrior training, all need large currency stock in the bank, which could be upgrade for the maximum capacity.
Players train warriors on the ‘drill ground’, which I, inDynasty Saga, the sole and only way for fighter upgrading. There is a break after each drill, which is called the ‘cooling time’. As for the drill mode, Dynasty Saga offers gamers four choices to pick up accordingly, with three consuming silver currency and one costing RMB-convertible golden currency.
‘Households’ generate tax in the game. The more and fancier they are, then the more silver currency players can collect. Players start things with only one household, but can absolutely get more as their main city get leveled up.
Out of the city
Click ‘Combat’, then you are well on the way to battling all legendary figures of the ‘Three-Kingdoms’ one after another, with each time more challenging and intense than the previous, until all general-in-chiefs in the region get slain. But before you hardly catch a breath, it is high time to march out for more battling and conquering in a higher-level region.Combat:
InDynasty Saga, Players command their warriors, five at maximum, and take turns for troop attack. Of course, the higher the warriors in rank, the more sophisticated their equipments and technologies are, then the more powerfully awed your troop would be.Features:
Done with all the constructing grinds. Dynasty Saga offers gamers four basic buildings at the very outset and would gift more as the main city gets upper in level. All that players need to do is to get them upgraded.
What setsDynasty Saga out from other similar offerings is that you neither get tied in hands with all the farmland or forest building rotes, nor have to be antsy all the time about how long your soldiers can still make it on the meager amount of food supplies. When freed from the shackles of all these tiresome routines, the rest would be nothing but awesome fight!
Aware of the grueling construction and recruitment process typical of traditional WEB strategy game, Dynasty Sagamakes it all an instant thing, saving all the time for a ‘cooling period’, which punctuates between every two upgrading or recruiting efforts.
Overall Impression:
Dynasty Sagais such an eye-opener among tongs of war-themed titles. From its unique operation system to nifty game design, we can rightly feel the vibrancy of creativity and all exquisiteness. All in all, Dynasty Saga is definitely something worth more than a check-out.
Update: After playing three minute Dynasty Saga, we found this game pretty similar to another browser game batheo. And the sources said this game has been redesigned by a Guangzhou-based company. And the Boss is also one of the management in Evony , War of 2012 and Caesary.
